Marrion House Leeds, CHP Site Build

Project Description

Project Overview

Project Value:£450,000.00
Location: Marrion House Leeds, CHP site build
Project type: Industrial

ProGen was commissioned by Edina to provide a full LV/HV design and build of electrical services for a new site build bespoke 4MW single CHP system for Leeds Council, which was located within a basement of a Leeds city centre council office tower block.

The Challenge

This project was particularly challenging due to its location in a basement. With the deliveries being scheduled and the work area very restricted, the project had to be closely managed and coordinated with mechanical and other service contractors. The two gas 11KV CHP engines electrical systems were all bespoke built.

The Solution

ProGen coordinated the full electrical installation in-house, which provided exceptional control within the tight area constraints of the project. All the specialist trades needed for a project of this type were provided in-house.

The full extent of ProGen’s design and installation responsibility included:

  • Co-ordination and Design

Progen provided a full design of the HV and LV electrical systems, our in-house design team avoiding any clashes from other services existing on site.

  • HV Infrastructure

The full 33KV and 11KV was provided by ProGen, which included HV cable containment and cabling with removal, and the termination and jointing of the HV cabling.

  • LV Distribution

All LV cabling and containment was also provided within ProGen’s package, along with the installation of a new LV switchgear and commissioning.

  • Lighting

ProGen provided full cabling and installation of the lighting package throughout the compound area.

  • Fire and Security

Progen provided Edina a full fire and security package, which was supplied and installed to the exact requirements of the specification.

  • Gas Detection

Progen provided a full ATEX gas detection system throughout the gas engine containers.

  • HV Substation Fit-out

The new HV substation was fitted out with lighting and power by ProGen to the exact specifications provided by western power networks.

The Outcome

The project was successfully coordinated and delivered on time, and was one of the first CHP works ProGen had been involved with. This project provided a platform for future woks within the sector.
